If you are a lover of hotdogs, then you have got most definitely had an Oscar Mayer Wiener in the future. Heck, you may even know the unique song from the ads, and I might or would possibly not have auditioned for the nationwide commercial casting call in the 90's. But now, the beloved brand is rolling out Oscar Mayer NotHotDogs, and we tried them to peer what this meatless plant-based option is all about.
According to a press release, Kraft Heinz and NotCo are freeing two plant-based foods that are set to debut across the United States in 2024. One is the NotHotDog, and the other is the NotSausage. Both are made to be filled with the similar smoky flavors and textures you may have come to expect from real meat. Except those are plant-based and are new additions to The Kraft Heinz Not Company's ongoing checklist of vegetarian-friendly and plant-based options.
We attempted Oscar Mayer NotHotDogs.
Let me say, first and foremost, that I used to be a vegetarian. Call it a high school section, but hey, it lasted a excellent two years, and I'm proud of that. With that being stated, I know the smells, flavors, and textures that come from conventional plant-based "meats" and I will admire what most brands are trying to do. When I attempted the NotHotDogs, I was reminded of the pretend meat that continuously does the job for those who choose to not eat actual meat. And that is not a nasty thing.
To be fair, the feel is not the best while you put it up towards a real Oscar Mayer hotdog. But the NotHotDog tastes on the subject of the actual factor, and it even has a little bit of a snap to it. I had mine like my toddler eats hotdogs — on a plate with a glob of ketchup. But I'd believe that, dressed up in a bun with some toppings, the NotHotDog would style even closer to the real factor.
That's not to say it is easiest, then again. And I'm not pretending like it is going to permanently replace Oscar Mayer hotdogs in my home. I'm now not sure I may just get past the comfortable inside texture of those plant-based NotHotDogs in place of real meat. But they may well be good for those who are vegetarian or simply eager about extra plant-based meals.
Oscar Mayer NotHotDogs debuted at Expo West 2024 in Anaheim, Calif.
The NotHotDogs debuted in March 2024 on the Expo West in California, and they're set to be to be had national later in the year. They're only one more edition to the logo's ongoing effort so as to add plant-based choices for patrons, which already integrated KRAFT NotMac&Cheese, KRAFT NotCheese Slices, and NotMayo.
