NBC drama The Blacklist came again with a bang this month, with the Season Eight premiere featuring sudden twists for Liz, Katarina, and a new Dom — with actor Ron Raines changing the overdue Brian Dennehy on the show.

In that Nov. 13 episode, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins) convinces daughter Liz Keen (Megan Boone) that her father and Liz’s grandfather, Dominic Wilkinson, might be the KGB undercover agent referred to as N13 — so Liz is helping her mom abduct Dom to try to get solutions, much to the surprise of Red (James Spader).
Brian Dennehy died in April 2020.
Brian, a two-time Tony Award winner, died of natural causes on April 15, 2020. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian, passed away remaining night from herbal causes, no longer Covid-related,” actress Elizabeth Dennehy, one in all Brian’s daughters, tweeted the next day to come. “Larger than existence, beneficiant to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he'll be neglected by way of his spouse, Jennifer, circle of relatives, and plenty of pals.”

Aside from his position in The Blacklist, Brian appeared on the TV displays Public Morals and Hap and Leonard, and within the movies Cocoon and Presumed Innocent. The Connecticut local gained his Tonys for his performance in Broadway’s Death of a Salesman in 1999 and Long Day’s Journey Into Night four years later. He also gained a SAG Award and a Golden Globe for a TV movie model of Death of a Salesman.
Following Brian’s demise, NBC re-aired the Dom-centric Season 6 episode “Rassvet.”

Ron Raines replaced Brian Dennehy on ‘The Blacklist.’
Ron is an actor of the level and screen, possibly perfect identified for taking part in businessman Alan Spaulding on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light between 1994 and 2009.
Despite his daylight hours drama reputation, Ron is not any stranger to primetime fare, having guest-starred within the series Person of Interest, Elementary, and The Good Wife. Broadway lovers, in the meantime, might recognize him from his roles in Show Boat, Chicago, Follies, Newsies, and Annie.
Producers recast the role because Dom is “instrumental” within the plot line.
Considering Season 7 of The Blacklist left Dom in a coma, the display’s manufacturers simply may have written Dom out of the display following Brian’s demise, but they selected to recast the function instead, and executive producer John Eisendrath defined that selection in a recent TVLine interview.

“It’s all the time difficult to make that more or less determination,” John stated. “It is extremely unhappy that folks we’ve come to understand and work with and appreciate have kicked the bucket. In this situation, whilst on the only hand [Brian] is irreplaceable, on the opposite hand, the story was once at a place where [Dom] was absolutely instrumental in it. He’s the central level of the story. He is aware of a reality that everybody is trying to figure out. So whilst it used to be a hard choice to do, we felt it was important, and we hope other people keep in mind that.”
