She mentioned: "By the approach, everybody all the time thinks I got fired for saying f--k: I did not, that isn't why I got fired. I simply did not belong there. I didn't do a just right process, I didn't click on. I have no idea how [SNL creator] Lorne [Michaels] felt about me. All I know is, it did not work for me, and I got fired."

The recent controversy involving SNL's hiring (then firing) of comedian Shane Gillis, who's known for making racist and homophobic remarks, made several fans recall Jenny's unfair dismissal from the show. But the actress is well aware that things would've played out quite differently if she made the same mistake as a man.

She said: "I am a lady who has made so much of her own paintings, and I've had a variety of successes — some small, some private, some public. I'm a New York Times best-selling children's writer, all of these items this is so intentional and worthy, however other people incessantly wish to frame my luck as an ascent from one failure that was once the decision of a few guy who didn't understand me 10 years ago."

"I simply marvel," she continued, "if I had been a person, would other folks be so obsessed with the undeniable fact that I stated a swear?" 

It's unfair and quite frustrating to think about, but on the bright side, Jenny has long moved on from her SNL days.

She's lately operating on the upcoming movie On the Rocks, which is ready to release in 2020, and she lately released her stand-up comedy particular, Stage Fright, on Netflix in 2019.
