The Dude abides!

Hot at the heels of his epic Golden Globes speech and a long-overdue Emmy nod for his co-star Sam Elliott, Jeff Bridges has Coen Brothers fans at the edge of their seats expecting a The Big Lebowski sequel. The 69-year-old actor broke the web this morning through tweeting a teaser of himself dressed because the titular dude inviting us to watch... one thing on February 3, 2019.

So, is a Big Lebowski sequel in any case going down?

Unfortunately, the answer is more than likely no longer. That date in the teaser happens  to coincide with the date of the Super Bowl, this means that this is likely a promo for an ad that may air all through the Big Game.

However, I would not totally rule out the potential of a sequel to the 1998 vintage. Stars of the film, from Jeff himself to John Turturro, aka The Jesus, have expressed being very open to revisiting their roles.

“I feel no matter [the Coen] brothers assume. If they need to do a sequel, I’m sure it’d be a cool factor,” Jeff stated to Digital Spy back in 2017.

As for John, he is already enthusiastic about a sequel of varieties, extra like a derivative. However, it will have a a lot different tone from the wacky '90s cult classic.

The project, referred to as Going Places, is not a Coen Brothers joint on the other hand. John approached them and asked for permission to take The Jesus — a persona he in large part constructed himself from a very minor comic strip within the unique Lebowski script — and give him his own film.

Joel and Ethan gave him the move ahead, and John went into production with his script in 2016. Though it has but to be launched, never say never. In it, Jesus Quintana essentially retells the tale of a 1970s French sex dramedy starring Gerard Depardieu, also called Going Places.

It's lovely not going that we'll ever see The Dude himself again at the big display, regardless that. In fact, the more enthusiasts clamor for one, the more Joel and Ethan resist. "In this case, I don't think we'll oblige," Joel Coen told Variety in 2016, and he's also flat-out stated prior to, "I don't like sequels."

Yeah, neatly, you already know, that's similar to, uh, your opinion, man.

So we will should be glad with no matter lands on our small monitors on Super Bowl Sunday (and it's gotta be Sunday, as a result of Walter doesn't roll on Shabbos). Let the speculation start on what emblem controlled to land The Dude for this primo spot.
