Season 2 of Don't Forget the Lyrics! premiered on May 23, 2023, and host Niecy Nash is just as excited as the contestants for the newest run of the game show. Niecy spoke to the New York Post about the Fox musical pageant and teased a promising 2nd season of the show.

“It’s the sort of fun season,” Niecy exclaimed. “I just love being in a position to hook up with the contestants. I’m biting my nails; I’m wringing my palms. You want them to do smartly.”

In 2021, the show was rebooted as a primetime series, with Niecy taking the reigns as the new host. And while Don't Forget the Lyrics! has been on television displays national for some time, new viewers is also questioning precisely how the musical pageant works. Here's what we all know.

How does 'Don't Forget the Lyrics!' work?

The competition on Fox’s Don't Forget the Lyrics! is much more advanced than its name implies. Single contestants are tasked with singing the correct lyrics to 10 songs. Players should pick songs from categories like pop, country, R&B, or even one-hit wonders. As the recreation progresses, the prize price rises from $2,500 to $1 million. Lyrics to the track seem on the display, with an in-studio band accompanying the track. Then, the track stops and contestants will have to finish the lyrics acapella.

Like maximum recreation shows, Don't Forget the Lyrics! comprises game-saving backups. Contestants bring along a circle of relatives member to help with the festival who they may be able to call on for help as soon as throughout the recreation. Also, players are given a three-word clue that they may be able to use to lend a hand them discover the winning answers.

As contestants progress up the cash ladder, they will have to select to proceed competing for $1 million or walk away with the money bought from previous rounds.

Niecy’s addition to the common sport show comes over a decade after Don't Forget the Lyrics premiered.
